BJP, CPI-M clashes killed one, left four injured in Tripura

Agartala: Unrest triggered following two clashes between BJP and CPI-M at Unokoti and Dhalai districts where a tribal youth of BJP was killed and four others of the party were left injured. In the incident at Longtarai Valley of Dhalai district four BJP workers were allegedly assaulted and one among them was died when CPM cadres ganged upon them in Chhailengta last night. BJP president Biplab Kumar Deb said, the CPM workers led by one Basu launched an unprovoked attack on four BJP supporters when they were returning from the market. They tried to take shelter in the BJP party office but they were chased down and assaulted mercilessly. He alleged that the attack was committed in front of police who remained a mute spectator. In a separate incident at Noapara area under Kumarghat Municipal Council of Unokoti district of North Tripura last evening. The tension brewed up when a vehicle loaded with bricks tried to enter the under construction road in the locality. Litan Das, a BJP activist stopped the vehicle and a CPI-M cadre Amit Paul protested against it. In the mean time, supporters from both parties assembled at the spot. The local BJP leaders lodged a complaint at Kumarghat police station alleging that Litan was severely assaulted by CPI-M cadres and he was shifted to hospital. Protesting the incident, BJP activists held a rally demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons but nobody arrested so far. On the other, the local ruling party leaders also filed a case against Litan. UNI
