NGO organises leadership training

SHILLONG: The Synjuki Seng Samla Shnong (SSSS) organised a leadership training to commemorate 182nd death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem.
The training was organised for the leaders of its district units, which include unit representatives from West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi district and representatives from circles at Earl Holiday home.
Chairman SSSS, Vanshan Buhphang, briefed the members on the aims and objectives of the training. The SSSS said it believes in the welfare of the people.
Buhphang stressing on the meaning of being a true leader said, “Being elected as president, secretaries of the organisation doesn’t necessarily make one a leader, but the true meaning of leader is the continuous effort for oneself to have an insatiable thirst for knowledge, skills and an unceasing self-improvement”.
The chairman also briefed the members present on the organisational structure and functioning of the SSSS. The four missions of the SSSS, which are ‘One house one tree mission’, ‘We mean to clean’, ‘Save streams sans sully campaign’ and ‘SharakRit Award’ were made known to the gathering.
In the second session of the training, Ricky C Pathaw, general secretary of SSSS facilitated the representatives from different districts to contribute their thoughts and discuss on achieving the vision of the SSSS with changing times.
Pathaw said that when SSSS was established 25 years back, the mode of operation was different as compared to the current situation due to rapid development of technology.
