SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Thursday lashed out at critics who had taunted him for his “big dream” of inaugurating a series of C&RD blocks and civil sub-divisions.
“There was scepticism and pessimism after the creation of districts,” he said about his critics.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha had recently said the chief minister was on an “inauguration spree” before the 2018 elections.
Sangma on Thursday retorted saying pessimistic people will fail and “optimist people dream big”.
On the critique that he was inaugurating different blocks and Civil Sub-Divisions  in spite of financial crunch, he said, “We are running the government and they are having the headache. Money is coming because we are working hard.”
He even stated that critics should learn from them on how to run the government.
Secretariat is active
Sangma said the Secretariat is active and that people are working till 10-1 am. “We have so many things to do and so many problems which, unless addressed, will have serious problems in the future,” he added.
Militancy
Speaking on militancy in the State, he pointed out to various incidents where businessmen were kidnapped, murdered and served demand notes.
He maintained that the State Government took initiatives to strengthen the internal security apparatus with the creation of police stations and police outposts even as he is making attempts to open vacancies for police recruitment.
The chief minister said the government in the last decades had wasted time focusing on militants and criminals. “The good thing happening in Meghalaya is that we are being able to spare time to plan for the prosperity of the State,” he added.
