Agartala: Hundreds of teachers, scholars and students of Tripura (Central) University have demonstrated in the campus seeking removal and panel action against Vice Chancellor Prof Anjan Kumar Ghosh for his alleged involvement in massive corruption and conspiring against the teachers.
The protestors covered face with black badge demonstrated silent rally yesterday in the campus displaying placards of their demands to stop harassment of teachers, immediate action against VC and a few of his officials involved in financial and administrative corruption, removal of VC and initiate panel action against him.
They alleged VC and a group of corrupt officials of the university against whom faculty members raised voice have been continuously intimidating and threatening the teachers. Recently, the tainted group has compelled the security officer of the university to lodge a complaint against some teachers of misbehaving him while on duty.
Based on the complaint, the authority instituted a committee to conduct enquiry into the allegations, which flared up the situation. The vice chancellor Prof Ghosh who has been accused of eating public fund, illegally appointing under qualified faculties and illegally absorbing non-teaching staff in corrupt means, has attempted to humiliate the teachers with false complain, alleged angry teachers.
“Prof Ghosh and his corrupt team has eaten crore of rupees in the name of e-book procurement and construction activities, finance officer was appointed in illegal means, provided undue benefit to just retired Register, adopted corrupt means in appointment of non-teaching staff in past four years but finally he failed to appoint under qualified faculties favouring some persons following protest of the teachers. Now he became revengeful against the teachers but we shall not allow him to succeed,” the teacher stated.
They further alleged that Tripura assembly had to send a unanimous resolution seeking investigation against Prof Ghosh and several other organisations and individuals sent series of complaints with central government and President against him. A few investigations are started but no visible action is there, which prompted him to humiliate the teachers.
“We shall go at the last extent to re-gain the lost glory of the university,” the teachers added. UNI
