SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said on Sunday he would write to the Deputy Commissioner about HYC’s plan to impose Inner Line Permit.
The SP said that action will be taken as per law if the group goes ahead with its decision.
HYC said on Saturday it would implement ILP with the help of Dorbar Shnong to check influx of immigrants into “Khasi land”. It will start a series of protests from Wednesday.
Appealing to the various anti-railway groups to maintain peace, Marak said, “This is more or less connected with the ongoing agitation. We have taken action against perpetrators who are also members of KSU. They may be members of any organisation but if they break the law then we will take action.”
He added that additional security measures are in place. On the series of agitations starting from Monday, the SP said permission should be sought to carry out demonstration and adequate security measures will be deployed in such places.
