US Open Grand Prix: Prannoy humbles experienced Kashyap, lifts title

Anaheim, Jul 24 (UNI) Star shuttler HS Prannoy lifted the US Open Grand Prix Gold tournament after beating his fellow countryman P Kashyap in an all Indian title clash here.
With this win, Prannoy clinched his third Grand Prix Gold and maiden US Open title defeating Commonwealth Games gold medalist Kashyap by 21-15, 20-22, 21-12.
Starting on an impressive note, Prannoy had to sweat for the first set after trailing 4-8 initially. However, pro shuttler Kashyap made his way back in the game after clinching the second game, executing his game plan smartly. The second game went in favour of Kashyap 22-20, thus forcing the decider.
In the decider set, Prannoy was all over Kashyap as the 25-year-old clinched the third set and the match winning it by 21-12. UNI
