SHILLONG: The Executive Committee of GHADC led by suspended NPP member and new CEM Boston Marak was formed with Wenison Ch Marak from GNC as the deputy CEM and nine Executive Members.
Boson said on Saturday that the governor on Friday approved the list of Executive Members.
The names of Executive Members include Jinbert Goera Marak (GNC) and Mark Goera Marak, Kenadik S Marak, Rupert M Sangma, Righteous N Sangma and Levastone T Sangma (all Independents), Jogonsing D Sangma, Dhormonath Ch Sangma and Nripendra Koch (all from the Congress).
However, the name of Ismail Marak, who supported the new alliance did not find place in the new Executive Committee.
There are reports from the ruling party sources that either Ismail or Cabinet Minister Zenith Sangma’s wife and Congress MDC Sadhiarani Sangma from Dengnakpara constituency may be elected as the new chairperson of the GHADC.
The formation of the new Executive Committee led by Boston was possible after five MDCs, Wenison Ch Marak and Jinberth Goera R Marak (from GNC), Congress MDCs Ismail and Dhormonath Sangma and Independent Righteous Sangma who had earlier joined the BJP switched their allegiance.
It was after the collapse of the NPP-BJP-GNC alliance led by NPP leader Denang T Sangma due to defections that Boston, who also defected from NPP, secured majority in the GHADC with the support of the Congress resulting in the formation of the new Executive Committee.
