SHILLONG: An under construction building is reportedly putting the residents of Lumkartik Lane in Laban at a risk.
The construction site is open on all sides with no mandatory green jute cover in sight and work is being carried out on this residential lane by the owner without any care or concern for the neighbouring houses.
The residents have complained that this is posing a danger to them as they have to often deal with pieces of wood, building wires, concrete, dust particles, bamboo, cement bags and others which dropping from the construction site into their properties.
Aggrieved residents have urged the Shillong Municipal Board and Laban Dorbar Shnong to stop the construction work immediately and till that time the owner ensures the safety of neighbours.
According to civil engineering experts, the green cover around an under construction building provides protection in many ways.
