GUWAHATI: Police recovered heroin worth Rs 40 lakh in Guwahati Railway Station from New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express that was coming from Dimapur in Nagaland and arrested the two persons who were carrying the contraband substance, on Monday.
Police said the heroin was being carried to Uttar Pradesh by two persons identified as Gajendra Singh and Maniruddin Borbhuyan. Police also recovered 1200 ml scent worth Rs five lakh from the possession of Maniruddin.
The heroin is suspected to have been sourced through Myanmar that has border with Manipur and Nagaland. Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland, is notorious for clandestine market of contraband drugs and weapons that come to Indian soil through Myanmar.
