NONGSTOIN: The NPP’s youth wing in Maweit area on Saturday slammed the president of the party’s Mawshynrut Block youth body for allegedly extending support to HL Nongsiang as the party candidate for Mawshynrut for the 2018 Assembly polls without taking the consent of party members.
In an emergency meeting held on Saturday, the Maweit area youth wing criticized Boring Diengan, president of the NPP youth wing Mawshynrut Block, for backing a particular candidate at a time when the party was yet to take a decision on the matter.
Michael Marshillong of the NPP youth wing Maweit Area also alleged that Diengan of making negative comments against other party ticket aspirants in the constituency.
He asserted that the NPP youth wing Mawshynrut constituency has decided to support any candidate chosen by the party.
Diengan had recently said that a wrong choice in selecting the candidate would split the party into half.
Reacting to this Marshillong said, “These are words of desperation.”
Marshillong also encouraged the leaders of the youth wing under Mawshynrut Block to work hard and lend their helping hand to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming election.
