Police takes steps to end trafficking

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police has assured that the District police are taking all possible measures to prevent all kinds of trafficking with special concern on child trafficking.
SP Davis Marak informed that police department has special cell for women and children and Anti Human Trafficking unit.
In addition, special juvenile protection unit is linked with cases of missing children besides child welfare police officers exist in all police stations, which specifically look after cases of missing children.
The statement of the District Police chief assumes significance as the Meghalaya Police data reveals that there were 117 cases of kidnapping and abduction of children in the State in last two years.
In addition, there were 25 cases of trafficking of minor girls in 2016-17.
