SHILLONG: A day after Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and MPCC president DD Lapang met the party leadership in New Delhi, speculations were rife in the political circles here about two senior Cabinet Ministers — Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar — being dropped from the Cabinet.
However, sources close to the chief minister denied any such development. They however informed that the chief minister was aware of such rumours doing the rounds since morning.
The AICC has also denied reports about dropping the two Cabinet ministers.
“I have not heard anything like that. You should ask the MPCC leader or the chief minister,” CP Joshi, the AICC general secretary in-charge, Meghalaya said over phone from Delhi.
Speculations that Tynsong and Dhar would leave the Congress and join other parties have been rife for a long time. However, both the leaders had denied such reports.
There were media reports that many Congress MLAs will shift allegiance and join other parties, including NPP and BJP. The names of these two Cabinet ministers had figured as NPP probables though the party led by Conrad Sangma was silent on these speculations.
