SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Malaria Programme Workers Association (AMMPWA) said on Wednesday it would soon move the State Government to fulfil their long-pending demand of absorbing its workers into regular posts.
When contacted, publicity secretary of the association, Basil Lyngdoh, said, “Our demand has been to absorb our services in the State Government. If not, we urge the Government to find out ways and means to utilise their services as per their qualifications in any department.”
He informed that they would meet concerned officials soon to press for their demand.
Last year, the AMMPWA had staged agitation against the State Government’s failure to absorb its workers in regular posts as directed by the Centre.
According to the association members, the State Government has failed to comply with the Centre’s directive to absorb the MPWs who were working in the Malaria Control Programme under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme for eradication of malaria in Meghalaya.
