State govt raises disabilities quota to 4 pc

SHILLONG: The State Cabinet has decided to raise the 3 percent reservation in government jobs for persons with disabilities to 4 percent.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the 4 percent quota will include 1 percent reservation each for persons with blindness and low visibility, hearing impairment, persons with locomotor disability, besides those with other disabilities like autism.
In addition, the State Government has also approved 2 percent reservations for sportspersons from Meghalaya who have represented the State at the regional, national and international levels.
