Sonowal to expand ministry soon after Shah’s approval

GUWAHATI: It is only a matter of few days till Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal effects the much-awaited expansion of his Cabinet as the BJP president Amit Shah has approved the lists of ministers to be inducted Sonowal ministry where seven ministerial berths are still lying vacant.

Party sources here said Sonowal will announce the names of new ministers to be inducted into his ministry on the right day after the cabinet expansion and its composition has been approved by the BJP president. Sonowal along with senior minister Himanta Bishwa Sarma met the BJP president in New Delhi today.

Meanwhile, Assam BJP president Ranjeet Dass today said that the ministry expansion was unlikely before Independence Day. He said that no member of the present council of ministers would be dropped during the expansion while departments of several ministers may be reshuffled.
