Women seize illegal liquor near Shillong bypass

NONGPOH: The Seng Longkmie Kmie Lumdaitkhla of Bhoirymbong village along with members of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council, Bhoirymbong circle, raided a wine shop and seized a huge quantity of illegal liquor on Saturday.
The liquor, comprising both Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and local liquor, were seized from the shop located in a secluded area near the Shillong bypass at Bhoirymbong. It is suspected that the liquor was hidden by some unknown persons.
Members of the Seng Longkmie and HYC later destroyed the seized liquor. R. Mawthoh, the president of Seng Longkmie, said such raids would be conducted from time to time and that stringent action would be taken against anyone found guilty of violating the law. Tyngshain Makri, the president of HYC, also warned offenders of strict action.
