People devp forum meets power min over Hydro project

SHILLONG: The Mawthadraishan People Development Forum (MPDF) has requested Power Minister Comingone Ymbon to hand over Khri-Synia Hydro Electricity project to North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).
Members of the forum met the minister on Thursday. In a petition to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, MPDF along with the Dorbar Shnong of Kynrud area, Nongsohma Kynrud, Mawiong Jadap, Nongkrem, Nonglang urged the State Government to hand over the project to NEEPCO.
According to the MPDF, handing the project to NEEPCO will expedite the work, which will benefit the State as a whole.
Ymbon informed that he would take up the matter to the chief minister.
It is not the first time that the MPDF petitioned the chief minister. In the month of July, the MPDF has written to Mukul Sangma and the then Power Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar to expedite the project.
The forum has also written to the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Piyush Goyal.
The forum contended that projects carried out by the State Government and private company hangs fire as projects are mostly far from completion.
