Event on open defecation held

TURA: The Public Health Engineering Department organised a programme, ‘Week of Freedom from Open Defecation’, under the Swachh Bharat Mission at Rangku Memorial Girls’ Secondary School in Baghmara in South Garo Hills on Friday.
During the programme, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) SN Marak highlighted the issues relating to various health and sanitation methods and also appealed to the gathering to cooperate with the government to maintain total sanitation.
She also informed that over 3,000 toilets have been constructed last year and that efforts were being made to make all villages free of open defecation by December.
