Grand council chiefs observe 69 years of IOA & AA

SHILLONG: The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya observed the 69 years of the Instrument of Accession & Annexed Agreement (IOA & AA) from August 17, 1948 – August 17, 2017.

The meeting was held at Youth Hostel on Thursday in which Sardars, headmen, Myntri were present along with John Kharshiing, chairman of the council.

According to the Kharshiing, the provisions of IOA & AA are very clear on matters relating to executive, legislative and judicial.

He called  upon the people attending the programme to ponder over the discussion.

He questioned the Chiefs ( Syiem), sordar, Myntri, headmen as to what is their position in terms of administration. “Our (Chiefs of Federation of Khasi states) agreement with India should be made very clear,” he said.
