JOWAI: The Synjuk Ki Dorbar Shnong here met the West Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner on Wednesday over NGT ban on construction along the bank of the Myntdu and high tax on the Dorbar Shnong whenever they organise fetes and other events to raise funds for various things.
The Dorbar urged the DC to relax the distance for construction on the bank of the Myntdu from 500 m to 200 m as this would affect those who have already have houses there.
The team was led by former social activist and Rangbah Shnong of the Ladthadlaboh Dorbar Shnong, LD Lakiang.
The DC, however, suggested that all Dorbar Shnong should convene a public meeting in their respective localities to make people aware against polluting the Myntdu, which is the only source of water supply.
