HDR launches transport portal in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: Transport Minister HDR Lyngdoh launched Vahan-Sarathi, an online platform of the department, in Ri Bhoi on Thursday.
The portal will provide all services, including applying for licences and documents for vehicles.
Addressing a gathering at a road safety programme here during which the portal was launched at the district transport office, the minister said, “It (road safety programme) is an initiative of the district transport officer and the deputy commissioner for the benefit of locals.”
Among other guests were Commissioner & Secretary of Transport Tining Dkhar, Commissioner of Transport I.W Ingty and Deputy Commissioner C.P Gotmare.
Lyngdoh pointed out that hundreds of death on roads happen due to negligence.
He urged the Forest Department and the PWD to repair potholes and fell weak trees. Recently, a eucalyptus tree fell on a local taxi in Shillong killing three persons.
