SHILLONG: The Empowered Committee notified to study the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission held its first meeting on Friday.
However, the committee, headed by Principal Secretary of Finance RV Suchiang, did not take any decision. The other members of the panel are from different departments such as personnel, SAD, Planning, Finance and Law.
The constitution of a committee to examine pay panel proposals is normal and the views will be taken up by the Cabinet for discussion after which the recommendations will be approved. The empowered committee will take around two to three months to submit its views.
The Pay commission submitted its report earlier this month recommending over 25 percent increase in salary of government employees.
