Getting a job in government or private organisation is a dream for many of us. Some of us could get it but some of us also have dreams to achieve milestones in life.
Being an entrepreneur is like an independent career. Entrepreneur is an individual who, rather than working as an employee, runs a small business and assumes all the risk and reward of a given business venture, idea or good or service offered for sale.
The entrepreneur is commonly seen as a business leader and innovator of new ideas and business processes.
In the same way entrepreneurship is the process of starting a business or other organisation. The entrepreneur develops a business plan, acquires the human and other required resources, and is fully responsible for its success or failure. Entrepreneurship operates within an entrepreneurship ecosystem. Entrepreneurs have no limit for success and hence they can do lot in life.
One of the most important things to become entrepreneur is to take the risk. Most of the young people from our region are not confident enough to take risks; hence we have less number of entrepreneurs in the region in spite of having many natural resources.
One must have positive attitude to be a successful entrepreneur. It is important to know about the market through feasibility studies and all to start any enterprise.
There are different institutes that offer different training for upcoming entrepreneurs. Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship is one of the institutes that promote entrepreneurship in the northeastern region. IIE conducts many training programme for young people to help them to set up enterprises.
Entrepreneurs can contribute to the social change. This is a way which can be taken by our young people for self-employment and self-dependent. There is fun, enjoyment and money too for successful entrepreneurs.
Social Entrepreneurship
Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society’s problems like poverty, illiteracy, etc. They are determined and continual, tackling major social issues and offering new ideas for wide-scale change. It is the attempt to draw upon business techniques to find solutions to social problems.
This concept may be applied to a variety of organisations with different sizes, aims and beliefs and processes. Conventional entrepreneurs typically measure performance in profit and return, but social entrepreneurs also take into account a positive return to society. Social entrepreneurship typically attempts to further broad social, cultural, and environmental goals and is often associated with the voluntary sector for social transformation.
Social enterprises or social entrepreneurs may bring change in society in different way. A very good example of social entrepreneurship and a social entrepreneur is ‘Grameen Bank of Bangladesh’ created by Mohd Yunus as a micro-finance initiative towards providing economic independence to the lower income group. There are courses available in this area. Tata Institute of Social Science offers Master Programme related to Social Entrepreneurship.
National Entrepreneur Award
The National Entrepreneurship Awards have been instituted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to encourage a culture of entrepreneurship across the country.
There are different categories which include entrepreneurs from difficult areas, including the northeastern region, women entrepreneur, entrepreneur from ST/SC category, Social Enterprises, Entrepreneur from Persons with Disability category. Aspirants may apply before 15th September.
