Cop wounds self after stabbing wife

SHILLONG: An armed branch constable of the police stabbed his wife and later injured himself by stabbing on Sunday evening and the duo is in a critical condition at NEIGRIHMS.
Police said on Monday armed branch constable, Rajesh Sharma (29), residing at Shillong Sadar police station complex first stabbed his wife Shanti Sharma and later he stabbed himself on the abdomen.
Though domestic problem is initially cited as the reason, the police are yet to take the statements of the husband and wife since they are in critical condition.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said that though no FIR has been lodged, the officer in charge of Sadar police station has been asked to take up a suo motu case. “We are yet to ascertain the cause of the incident since police are yet to take their statements owing their hospitalization,” Marak said.
Constable molests retired woman cop
In another incident involving police, a constable identified as Prakash Chettri molested a retired woman constable at Bishnupur CID/SB complex on Friday night.
The retired woman constable resisted the attempt and filed an FIR.
Later, the constable filed a counter FIR stating that the family members of the victim assaulted him.
The constable is yet to be arrested as he was hospitalised.
With these cases, the SP warned that no indiscipline will be tolerated in the police force, while assuring that the genuine grievances of the men in uniform will be addressed.
