Police seize cattle worth Rs 1.80 lakh

SHILLONG: Smugglers were intercepted at a jungle near Jong U Shen Village and nine cattle worth Rs 1, 80000 (one lakh eighty thousand only) was seized while those were being taken to be smuggled to Bangladesh.

Based on specific inputs that attempts were on the offing to smuggle cattle to Bangladesh through the area around Mukatpur Amlarem Sub-division, a team led by Police sub-inspector R Syrti was sent to intercept the smugglers.

Police sources stated that smugglers took advantage of the darkness and manage to flee on seeing the police team.

The seized cattle will be handed over to the concerned department for necessary action after completing of all legal formalities by the Police Department.
