SHILLONG: As Meghalaya Government is entrusted to host the National Games 2022, the State Government has received the host city contract for hosting the mega event.
Informing this on Monday, Meghalaya State Olympic Association’s working president, John Charting said the contract would now be scrutinised by the Finance, Law and other line department.
“Once the agreement will be finalised, it will be sent back to Indian Olympic Association for final consent,” Kharshiing said.
Later, a signing date will be arranged where the three stakeholders including the State and Central Government would sign the agreement.
Under the agreement, there will be milestones and each work will have to be finished within a fixed timeline.
The IOA, on March this year formally announced that Meghalaya would host the National Games 2022, after the state had made a bid to host the mega event. So far, only two states from North East- Assam and Manipur — have hosted the National Games.
