SHILLONG: Former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh said on Tuesday the Congress would see a thumping victory in Meghalaya in the 2018 Assembly elections.
Speaking to media persons after the launch of his book, Indira Gandhi: A Life In Nature, in the city, Ramesh assured about the national party’s win when he was reminded about his remark earlier this month about the crisis in the party.
Ramesh had said the Congress was facing an existential crisis and not an “electoral” one and had called for a change in the party’s strategy. “The party really is in deep crisis,” the Congress MP had remarked.
However, when asked to elaborate on this, the candid senior Congress leader said he was not in the city for political reasons but when cajoled for an answer, he emphatically predicted the party’s comeback in the State.
