Threat/Extortion
Minan M Marak lodged a complaint that on August 28 around 7 am, while he was opening his tea stall at Gara Bokmangre in South West Garo Hills, he found a letter wherein unknown miscreants demanding Rs. 5 lakh from him. The senders also threatened the complainant with dire consequences if he fails to pay on or before September 20, 2017.
Amita Sangma lodged a complaint that on August 24 around 4.30 pm, Blester Tariang threatened her with dire consequences at Mawblei, Shillong.
Trespassing
H S Chahar, Squadron Leader, IAF, Laitkor Peak, Shillong lodged a complaint that on August 27 around 1.45 pm, one Uttam Chandra Roy was apprehended while scaling the boundary wall and loitering near the technical area, inside Air Force Station at Laitkor.
Assault
Silba Risot lodged a complaint that her ex-husband along with his wife Riboti Ch Sangma went to her house at Ahimpara in East Khasi Hills, assaulted her and took away her gold earring valued around Rs. 2,000, one silver necklace valued around Rs. 5,000 and some household articles. They also threatened her with dire consequences, if she informs the matter to the Mahari or Mulor of the village.
On August 27 around 6.30 pm, one Mirish Hajong (30) attacked one Kokan Hajong (31) with a sharp weapon at Sagarkona area in South West Garo Hills. As a result, the victim sustained injuries. Police arrested the accused.
On August 27 around 8 pm, two persons, Sheikh Koser and Sonu Alam assaulted their co-worker Mohan Das (36), working in a tyre workshop at Khanapara. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Nongpoh.
Lut Chyrmang lodged a complaint that on August 25 around 10.45 pm, her husband Living Pakem assaulted her, forcibly snatched her ear-ring, burnt her house and threatened her with dire consequences. As a result, the house is completely gutted.
On August 27 evening, miscreants assaulted Santosh Kumar (28) with an iron rod at Rhino Point, causing injuries to him. Victim was removed to CH Shillong.
On August 25 around 11.45 pm, an incident took place at State Forest Check Gate, Moodymmai (WJH), wherein the In-charge of the Check Gate viz., Salan Swer was manhandled by Dapoi Sumer and two others of Shangpung village.
Theft cases
On August 25 around 4.30 pm, unknown miscreants stole music system form the vehicle (ML-05N-6897) belonging to Nazrul I Laskar which was parked at Police Bazar, Shillong near Old Assembly.
On August 25 around 8.30 pm, two persons, Ajay Kumar Gupta and Bablu Prasad Gupta, both residents of Happy Valley, Shillong, were found dealing six LPG cylinders in black market, using their Maruti Zen Estilo (ML-05-0640).
On August 25 midnight, unknown miscreants stole forty-eight batteries valued around Rs. 28 lakh from Mawsawa, Pomura (EKH).
On August 25 midnight, unknown miscreants stole fifteen batteries valued around Rs. 94,000 from BSNL tower at Mawsawa, Pomura (EKH).
On August 24 around 1 am, unknown miscreants stole twenty-four battery banks valued around Rs. 1,50,000 from Shkenpyrsit (WJH).
On the night of August 21, unknown miscreants broke into St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Pynursla (EKH) and stole cash Rs. 60,000/-.
Asraful Islam lodged a complaint that on August 26, his motorcycle (AS-15B-5129) was found missing from Ampati Old Cow Market (SWGH).
Sangran Sangma lodged a complaint that on August 25 around 9 am, his motorcycle (ML-08C-2698) was found missing from Zikzak Bazar (SWGH).
On August 25, miscreants broke into the house of Debojyoti Dutta at Oxford Hill, Kench’s Trace and stole one electric kettle.
On August 24 around 10.45 am, two boys stole one cell phone from the house of Ganga Deb at Oxford Hill, Kench’s Trace.
Bhakupar Sawain lodged a complaint that on August 7, miscreants stole nine batteries valued around 56,250 from Vodafone Tower at Umpling, Laimaw, Block-5 Shillong.
Niwethi A Sayoo, JE, PWD, Shangpung Sub-Division lodged a complaint that on August 27 around 8.30 am, he received information from the VDP members of Shangpung, Moosyiem that two scrap dealers, Karim Ali and Akbar Ali stole road delineators from Pasyih-Garompani Road and transported the stolen materials in a three-wheelers with registration number ML-05G-5685.
Fraud charge
On August 28, H Marbaniang lodged a complaint that CEO of GNIS Company allotted him a work amounting to Rs. 20 lakhs for construction of foundation and erection of mobile tower and that the complainant had incurred Rs. 15,60,000 approximately for completion of the work. However, till he did not receive payments against the work done and that the officials of GNIS are absconding.
Drug seized
On August 26, acting on inputs, Police arrested James Dean Shabong at Polo Bazar and recovered ten numbers of wrapped papers containing yellow and orange powder suspected to be heroin weighing about 0.60 grams.
