Shullai raises alarm over burgeoning unemployment

SHILLONG: Over 200 youths were felicitated at an award function for officials and  trainees passed out of Shubham Skill Development Center, Rilbong organised by Greater Laban Community Development Society on Wednesday.

The NCP leader and legislator Sanbor Shullai speaking as the Chief guest on the occasion voiced a concern on the growing unemployment in the state which he observed is a problem plaguing the country and society.

At the same time, he stated that rising number of young people were leaving their hometown to pursue a career elsewhere in the country.

He lauded the efforts of Shubham Skill Development to provide training to youths as beauticians, electricians, plumbers etc.

“You (trainees) should not fully depend on government job. You can create self-employment,” he said, encouraging them to work hard as well.

Shullai pointed out that there were many schemes of the state, central government which the youth trained in skill development can avail.
