Cajee’s wife to contest polls

SHILLONG: Sarita Lyngdoh Nongpiur, the wife of late politician from Mawlai constituency, Founder Strong Cajee, has said she would contest the Assembly 2018 elections from Mawlai constituency.
Stating that her aim was to serve the people, she however said that she was yet to decide from which party she would contest.
“Before taking the decision, I have consulted the leaders of Greater Mawlai People’s Union who have supported me and insist that I should follow in the footsteps of my husband,” Sarita said.
Till date, contestants who have announced their candidature for Mawlai seat are Embhahlang B. Syiemlieh, MLA, from United Democratic Party (UDP), Process T. Sawkmie, MDC from Congress, Sylvester Kurbah from Nationalist People’s Party (NPP), Bankyrshan L. Nongbri from Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) and Teibor Pathaw, a ticket aspirant from Peoples Democratic Front (PDF).
