SHILLONG: Former deputy chief minister Rowell Lyngdoh said on Wednesday he would consult his party workers before taking any decision to shift allegiance to NPP.
After the MPCC dissolved the Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee, several party workers led by Diverland Lyngdoh, the former vice president of the Block Committee and relative of Rowell, joined NPP on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Rowell, who represents Mawkyrwat constituency, said he was very much a Congress MLA and any decision on leaving the party would be taken only in consultation with his supporters.
Earlier, MPCC had also removed Rowell from the post of president of the block committee.
“From August 31, the party will distribute application forms to potential candidates. I will consult my people whether to apply for the party ticket,” he said.
The veteran Congress leader blamed MPCC president DD Lapang for imposing his decisions and changing the functionaries of the block committee.
