CFC chairman resigns
SHILLONG: The chairman of Campaign for Change (CFC), Milon Warjri has resigned from his position as chairman of CFC on Thursday. Warjri stated that he resigned from the post on personal grounds. CFC was launched in November last by suspended Congress leader and KHADC CEM PN Syiem.

Students felicitated
SHILLONG: Three students, Banteilang Mukhim of Government Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Iarilyne Diengdoh of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School and Buhriti Pohsnem of Nongtalang Government Secondary School were felicitated by the Meghalaya School Service Association (MESSA) recently for securing position in the merit list of the SSLC examination. Principal Secreatry Education department handed over the citation and cash award to the students who secured 4th, 18th and 19th position respectively.

Awareness programme held
SHILLONG: Road safety awareness programme was organised by CSR committee of Shillong Expressway Pvt Limited on Wednesday at Bhoirymbong in the presence of officials from circle in charge of Umiam, Umroi Police station, members of Dorbar Shnong, students and teachers.

SDRC members meet officers
Nongstoin: A two-day meeting of the members of the State Development Reforms Commission (SDRC), with the officers of West Khasi Hills district under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner Arunkumar Kembhavi was held in the Conference Hall DC’s office Nongstoin on Wednesday and Thursday. The aim of the meeting was to discuss various centrally and state sponsored schemes, projects and programmes implemented in the district. The commission discussed at length the various issues and activities performed by line departments as per their power point presentation. Few projects for the site inspection and interaction with the beneficiaries were also highlighted.

Wreath-laying at renovated Rhino War Memorial
SHILLONG: The new Rhino War Memorial was inaugurated on Thursday with a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the soldiers who died in the 1971 war. Lieutenant General DS Ahuja, General Officer Commanding 101 Area, laid the wreath. The existing war memorial was earlier located at a busy junction of five roads. The change in location was necessitated to prevent inconveniences being caused to the general public.

Heart care programme held
SHILLONG: A heart care awareness programme was organised at Shillong College on Thursday conducted by Heart Care Society of Assam,an NGO that started its operation from 1999. The programme was organised by the Health Care Committee and Microbiology Department of Shillong College with initiation by Chandrima Choudhary, and the executive members of Heart Care Society. Eminent Cardiologist Dr. N.KBhattacharjee delivered keynote address on heart care. Others present on the occasion were TapashChoudhary, Shankar Choudhary both from HCS, Dr. K.D Ramsiej, Principal, Mary Diengdoh, Convenor, Zoliansang, HOD, the staff and students of the college.
