SHILLONG: TUR and CSWO said they feel vindicated by the fact that IAS officer HM Shangpliang is seeking VRS to escape punishment for his misuse of official position to further his political cause.
In a statement to the media on Thursday, TUR and CSWO said they are writing to both central and state governments to provide exemplary punishment to Shangpliang.
“He needs to be suspended immediately and dismissed from service if need be and not be granted VRS… His abuse of official position means that he no longer should enjoy the benefits due to him,” the statement added.
Even in his reply to the showcause (accessed through RTI) issued by the state government, Shangpliang had made desperate attempts to downplay his misdeeds, the organisations said.
TUR and CSWO urged the government to immediately complete the inquiry and make public its evidence and findings.
