GUWAHATI: In an attempt to scotch the raging speculations in the social media about the chances of his induction in the Union ministry during the reshuffle to be carried out on Sunday, Assam’s senior BJP leader and cabinet minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday termed it a misinformation campaign called upon the people not to speculate in the matter.
“Pls don’t speculate my induction in Central ministry. I am not even an MP now”, the BJP leader tweeted.
It may be mentioned that during an interview broadcast by a Guwahati-based TV channel earlier this week, Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned that he was keen to shift to New Delhi after 2019 Lok Sabha election which he wants to contest.
“I have worked in Assam for a longtime. I am now frequently out of Assam travelling to other N-E states to discharge my responsibilities as a convenor of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). I want to shift to Delhi after 2019 parliamentary election. I have told the party top brass as well as chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, about my wishes. It is now for the party to decide. I will abide by whatever the party leadership asks me to do,” Sarma said during the TV show.
The NEDA was formed by the BJP to strike coordination and political understanding with non-Congress and non-Left parties in Northeastern states especially the regional political groups. The NEDA has already paid rich dividends for the BJP in Manipur Assembly election earlier this year.
