NCERT celebrates 57th Foundation Day

SHILLONG: The 57th Foundation Day of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was celebrated on Friday at the North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) in Umiam.
Subhash Chandra Roy, Dean Instruction at NERIE, gave a brief introduction of NCERT structures and thrust areas and also spoke on the landmark achievements of NECRT-National Curriculum Framework.
Asserting that school is the foundation for higher studies, Education Secretary W.R. Lyngdoh gave examples of initiatives that were taken to improve the quality of education.
A short documentary on NERIE was also shown during the celebration.
