TURA: An inaugural programme was held here on Friday for the opening of Dakopgre locality’s first Community hall.
Deputy Chairman of NITI Aayog, Meghalaya, Grithalson N Arengh, opened the doors of the community hall in the presence of elders and the general public.
The construction of the hall was funded under the CM’sSpecial Rural Development Fund with an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakhs. The structure is an Assam type house with plinth area of about 500 sq. ft constructed on an open space adjacent to Dakopgre general graveyard.
Barring some minor finishing works, the property has been cleared for use by the public and would now cater to the needs of the residents like hosting of various social cultural events, locality meeting besides hosting various aspiring candidates of different political parties who comes canvassing for votes during elections.
It is also envisaged to turn this hall into various productive utilities centers like providing tuitions for poor and needy students and conducting of arts classes in the near future.
Arenghalso assured to look into the electrification works for the new hall.
