JOWAI: The town planning officer here has issued show cause notices to Sayeedullah Nongrum and the Masjid Committee seeking explanation as to why the mosque that was constructed illegally near the Myntdu river should not be dismantled. The show cause notice was sent to Nongrum, the owner of the land where the mosque has been constructed, on September 6 and he has been directed to respond within 15 days.
The town planning officer along with officials from the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council during the course of an enquiry found that no permission was obtained for construction of the mosque, which is a violation of the order of the NGT Court.
It was also informed that Nongrum’s name would be sent to the NGT as one of the respondents.
