IO-PLUS Guwahati Futsal Festival from Friday

GUWAHATI Second edition of ‘IO-Plus Guwahati Futsal Festival’ will be kick-started from Friday with participation of six teams from Manipur along with other teams across the state.

The tournament organized by Guwahati City FC (GCFC) in association with Sportscraft Management shall witness entertaining futsal battle of 32 senior teams. There will be a U-13 championship in the tournament for the first time where 8 teams will participate.

Two U-13 teams from Manipur will also join the junior championship. Widely regarded as basic of football across the globe, futsal needs to be popularized among kids to develop their football skill for future and with this objective GCFC has introduced U13 championship, said club director KaustabChakrabarty in a statement.

The tournament will be held in DeshbhkataTarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium, RG Baruah Sports Complex Guwahati. The opening ceremony shall be attended by Director, sports and youth welfare department, Assam government Pabitra Pran Khaund, senior journalist Pranay Bordoloi, Sports director of Regional Science and technology Institute, Ms Asma Begum. Health partner of the event is Narayana Super Specialty Hospital and Radio Partner is Radio Gup-Shup 94.3 FM. The prize money of the tournament is worth Rs 50,000.
