SHILLONG: People’s Democratic Front (PDF) will field Judah JM Wahlang, the son Rev. PBM Basaiawmoit against sitting MLA and state Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh from Sohiong constituency in the next Assembly election in the state.

The PDF has already started preparing for the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections and announced a number of candidates to contest the elections.

The party has welcomed Wahlang and elected office bearers to the Sohiong constituency Zonal Committee on Thursday.

Others who were present at the meeting are PDF State Executive Committee Ivanlumlang Marbaniang, James Ban Basaiawmoit, MDC of Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah Constituency, general secretary of PDF Auspicious Lyngdoh, Hamlet Dohling PDF candidate from Mylliem Constituency beside others.

Addressing the crowd, Wahlang said, “Sohiong constituency cannot be changed unless the public are firm about the decision to bring about a change.”

He added that it would make no difference to him contesting the Sohiong constituency even if he is a resident of Mawpat as he argued that many MLAs contested from a different constituency although they were not residents of the constituency.
