TURA: Muster roll workers of the PHE Department in Garo Hills have submitted a memorandum to the PHE Minister, Celestine Lyngdoh urging him to regularise their services within 15 days and threatened to resort to indefinite cease work if the government failed to address their demand.

In their memorandum submitted under the banner of the All Garo Hills Muster Roll Workers Association to Lyngdoh it reminded of the notification issued by the Office Memorandum of Personnel and Administrative (B) Department where it was mentioned that ‘when vacancies in group ‘D’ post arise in the department or office, fifty percent (50%) shall be filled up from amongst the RCW’s working in the department or office’.

However, it said that despite the notification, not even a single RCW or muster roll was appointed to group ‘D’ since 1980 till today.

It may be reminded that earlier on several occasions the association had submitted memorandums to concerned ministers and officials demanding the regularisation of services. However, repeated memorandums have not made any difference with the government choosing to remain adamant.

Frustrated over the continued government apathy the association as a last resort has threatened to go on an indefinite cease work in all five districts of Garo Hills if the government continues to ignore it.
