Abandoned infant dies in Tura

TURA: Tura police are on a search to identify the woman who abandoned her new born child on the outskirts of Tura on Friday.
The body of the new born was found abandoned on a desolate spot in Praharinagar area outside Tura on Friday morning by locals. 
The body was left inside a plastic bag.
People have expressed shock about the abandoning of the baby by its mother.
Police are awaiting the post mortem report to ascertain when and how the infant died.
This is not the first instance of a baby being abandoned by its mother. Last year, a similar occurred in a locality of the town and the child was rescued safely by a local who after hearing its cries manage to locate it.
Over the years there have been a rise in cases of child pregnancy and illegal abortion being conducted by some health workers in and around Tura and Williamnagar towns.
