SP issues directives to hotels, guest houses

SHILLONG: The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has issued instructions to owners and promoters of hotels, guest houses and resorts operating in the district to ensure that people employed under them are free from criminal records.
It also added that they should maintain the employees’ records along with photographs and send them to the concerned police station within short notice.
The details of all the guests and their identity proofs should also be sent to the police daily under the signature of the owner or anyone authorised by him, the statement said.
Moreover, the CCTV status need to be reflected in the daily report and in case it is not functioning due to technical snag, the same needs to be mentioned and the efforts taken to get the same rectified.
Among other instructions given include submission of CCTV footage in CDs after compilation for a period of one month in case there is no back up for a longer period.
No illegal activities as defined in POCSO/Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and other Acts prevalent shall be carried out in the hotel, guest houses and resorts.
The statement warned of strict action by way of imprisonment and fine against defaulters.
