SHILLONG: A section of the residents of Diengpasoh, Mawryngkneng have objected to the inauguration of Diengpasoh Police Station/Outpost citing lack of transparency and confidence of the Durbar Shnong and the general public of Diengpasoh.

In a letter to the Secretary (Home) and Secretary of Social Welfare Department, the president and secretary of Seng Bhalang ki Longkmie of Diengpasoh (SBLD), P War and Sidramon Mukhim respectively, have requested the officials to stop the inauguration of the Diengpasoh Police Station/ Police Outpost.

Maintaining that the organization had made a repeated objection to the opening of Diengpasoh Police station, they requested the officials to look into the matter and to call general durbar to avoid confusion.

In the letter to the government officials dated October 17, the SBLD comprising of women have alleged that the headman of Diengpasoh village is working with the government in personal capacity “in a very dubious manner” without their consent and without the consent of the general public of the village.

The organisation also raised concerns on the land acquisition process for the site where the Police Station/Police Outpost is to be inaugurated.

They alleged that the authorities are trying to inaugurate the police station to occupy the land illegally without the consent of the organisation and the general public in the village.
