SHILLONG: The empowered committee dealing with the finalisation of the Fifth Pay Commission’s recommendations has prepared the draft report.
An official said on Friday that once the final report is ready, it will be submitted to the chief minister.
Later, the matter will come up before the Cabinet that will take the final decision.
Several meetings were held by the empowered committee in the past to examine the suggestions of the Pay Panel.
The commission headed by former chief secretary PJ Bazeley had submitted its report to the government on July 31.
Subsequently, in August, the empowered committee headed by Principal Secretary of Finance RV Suchiang was entrusted to further go through the recommendations and submit its report.
Sources said the empowered committee may not alter the Commission’s suggestion to implement 25.6 per cent overall hike for government employees.
However, minor changes in some other recommendations are likely, the sources added.
The empowered committee is expected to submit the report either end of October or first week of November as the government does not want to delay the announcement of new package in view of the upcoming polls.
Earlier, the chief minister said that the government will not wait till December to implement the new pay package.
