TURA: Muster roll workers of the PHE Department from Garo Hills have announced indefinite cease work from October 27 onwards in view of the concerned department as well as the State government’s failure to fulfill their various demands.

Earlier, the workers under the banner of the All Garo Hills Muster Roll Workers Association- PHE (AGHMRWA-PHE) had on October 5, served an ultimatum of 15 days for the government to fulfill their demand for service regularization besides other demands. With the government failing to act despite the deadline expiring, the workers have decided to go ahead with the protest.

A letter of intimation has been submitted to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner copies of which, have also been given to the DCs and SPs of other Garo Hills districts as well as PHE authorities.

The workers while announcing the strike have also made an appeal to the authorities to look into their grievances so that the matter can be peacefully resolved.
