Illicit liquor
Excise officers of East Khasi Hills conducted raids in restaurants and stalls in the city and its outskirts in September. During the raids, 23.550 litres of Indian liquor and 6.160 litres IMFL were seized and 23 persons were arrested under Excise Act.

National Day run 
The office of the Deputy Commissioner and the district sport officer East jaintia hill District along with the District sport promotion society will be organising the National unity day run on November 31 in East Jaintia Hills at 6am. The run will start from the office of the Deputy Commissioner. Winners will walk away with cash prize and trophy.
