NPP ahead with 7 MLAs, 5 MDCs

SHILLONG: With seven sitting MLAs and five MDCs in Khasi Hills supporting NPP ahead of the polls, the party is a step ahead of other political entities in the state.
The seven MLAs who are set to join NPP include Prestone Tynsong, Rowell Lyngdoh, Sniawbhalang Dhar, Ngaitlang Dhar (all from the Congress), Remington Pyngrope (UDP) and Independents Stephanson Mukhim and Hopeful Bamon.
Besides Nongkrem MDC HS Shylla, other members of the council who are set to contest from NPP include Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Ricky Shullai, Victor Ranee and Jansing Tynsong.
Though BJP and NCP had claimed that many sitting MLAs will join their fold, it was NPP which got the maximum number of legislators.
The state president of NPP, WR Kharlukhi, said with the positive trend both in Khasi Hills and Garo Hills, the party would be able to form the next government.
