TURA: Teachers from Garo Hills under the banner of the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma urging him to look into their long pending demands.

In the memorandum the teachers sought the enhancement of their salaries to around Rs 35,000/- to 40,000/- per month at par with their counterparts from other categories.

Pointing out that the present system salary payment which is once every 3 or 4 months was creating great economic hardships they demanded that the payment is made regularly on a monthly basis.

Informing that teachers from remote areas were facing problems with regard to internet access, the teachers requested that D.El.Ed course examination is allowed to be written off line by fixing certain examination centres block wise.

The association also sought equal amount of salary to 4th teachers as their workload is the same as regular teachers.
