BJP’s ‘Run for Unity’ held at Tura

TURA: The youth wing of the BJP, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, celebrated the birth anniversary of India’s first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel at Tura with a ‘Run for Unity’ from Chandmari playground to Hawakhana on Tuesday morning.

“We celebrated the unity run to remember India’s Iron Man Sardar Patel. The BJYM has decided to celebrate this day every year as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ or National Unity Day as a mark of tribute to the Iron Man of India,” said Akki A Sangma, vice president of the Yuva Morcha of BJP in Meghalaya.

Members of the BJP and its youth wing along with supporters and well-wishers took part in the run while local leaders gave a brief speech on the significance of the day.

Among the BJP leaders who took part were state vice president Rikman G Momin, Mahila morcha’s state vice president Moromi K Marak, state general secretary Pramod Koch, mahila morcha general secretary Gentilla Marak among others.
