Meghalaya youth shine in N-E Youth Festival

NONGPOH: It is a proud moment for the Meghalaya State Contingent, as youths participating in the 5th North East Youth Festival brought laurel to the state by winning in three categories at the event held at Gangtok East, Sikkim.

The 5th North East Youth Festival was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sport, Govt. of India with an aims to promote the tradition and culture of eight states of the North Eastern region in the form of art, craft, culture and musical fusion and also to bridge the gaps among youths by bringing them all in one platform, the event was inaugurated on the 28th October to 31 November 2017.

The three prizes bagged by the state contingent includes Rock Band competition represented by Pantocrator band from Wahiajer West Jaintia Hills bagged as winner. The folk dance competition represented by artists from Resulbepara ranked 2nd Runner-Up and in the Instrumental (Guitar) solo competition represented by Stewart Kevin Lyngdoh Marshillong of West Khasi Hills District bagged winner. The winning award was handed over by Shriniwas Patil,  Governor of Sikkim.

Meghalaya State contingent comprising of 80 youth representing different district participated during the three days Youth Festival and escorted by the escorting officers including Bobby Wahlang and Dalene Khonglam.

During the camp, state youth took actively participated during the three days festival and showcased their rich ethic culture and their talents during the festival. The state youth team was sponsored by the Directorate of Youth Affairs &Sport.
